On March 23, 2007, Vincent Musi, a photographer on assignment for National Geographic Society magazine, visited the Midwest Prairie Dog Shelter, in Wabash, Indiana.  Part of his assignment entailed capturing an intimate portrait of a Gunnison's prairie dog for an article written for the magazine.  Musi was pleasantly surprised to discover that a special bond had developed with "Speedbump" during the photo session.
